Get your real Christmas tree to last till Christmas

There’s no big secret to keeping your tree fresh. There are just two simple steps to help you get your tree to last ’til Christmas!

Keep the Tree Trunk Fresh

The sap from a real tree can form a barrier, preventing it from absorbing water and reducing its lifespan. To avoid this, cut the trunk again when you bring the tree home to allow better water absorption.

If you’re not setting it up right away, make sure to keep the trunk in water; otherwise, you’ll have to cut it again. After setting up, keep the water topped up to avoid resealing and prevent the need for another fresh cut.

Water Your Tree Regularly

Set up your tree as soon as possible after it’s delivered, and remember to give the trunk a fresh cut before placing it in the stand. Fill the stand with water immediately. For the first few days, the tree will be extra thirsty, so check and refill the water a couple of times a day.

If the tree isn’t drinking, the trunk may have resealed and will need another cut. Keep the water level high each day to ensure your tree stays fresh as long as possible. If the trunk is exposed, it will seal up again.

*Bonus Tip: Avoid placing your tree in direct heat or sunlight. Hot weather, heaters, and air conditioning can dry it out quickly. Keep blinds closed and water filled to the top on especially warm days to keep your tree looking its best.
